3 Things to Expect During the Remodeling Process

May 23, 2013 | Renovations

There is no better way to increase the value of your home than to renovate. Valuable improvements to your home include adding bathrooms, kitchenettes, theater rooms and additional square footage to your basement. There are many things to consider before making the big decision, and after you have hired a Columbus home remodeling contractor there are several more things that you should take into account to have a great remodeling experience.

For our Trick of the Trade Tuesday we have decided to share with you the 3 top expectations a homeowner should have during the remodeling process, if you keep in mind these 3 considerations, your overall experience will be less frustrating, more enjoyable, and of course a more stress-free.

1. Expect the unexpected

Like anything else in life, most remodels do not go exactly as expected. There are almost always situations that come up along the way. Though not necessarily bad, they can take up time and add additional costs to the project. This is not always the case, but keep in mind that you should trust your contractor and work together to try to come up with the best solution.

2. Expect dust!

No matter how much a contractor cleans up, there is always going to be dust. Make sure you have a vacuum handy, or the phone number of a residential cleaning company. Cleaning will leave your home ready for the grand reveal.

3. Don’t expect people to be working 100% of the time

Unfortunately, with smaller projects it can be really hard to have multiple contractors working at once. Therefore, you have to schedule each task on separate days (for the most part). It might only take a couple of hours each day to complete the work, but you have to have it 100% done before moving on to the next step. It is very difficult to try to complete 2 steps at one time to save time.
